It seems appropriate to visit this show during #BritishPieWeek.
Waitress is based on the 2007 film, about a small-town diner waitress trapped in a loveless marriage.
As you walk into the theatre you are greeted with the scent of baking to set the scene of this musical.
Join Jenna, a waitress and expert pie-maker who dreams of a way out of her small town and rocky marriage. Pouring her heart into her pies, she crafts desserts that mirror her topsy-turvy life such as “The Key (Lime) to Happiness Pie” and “Betrayed By My Eggs Pie”. When a baking contest in a nearby county is announced it gives Jenna hope for a fresh start. Explore friendships, relationships and the banter in the diner between customers & staff
Change is on the menu, as long as Jenna can write her own perfectly personal recipe for happiness.
I left the show with a smile on my face but felt that it lacked a certain something. Go and make your own decision. It did make me want to go home and make a pie.
